Little Presents

As we all know, life can be a whirlwind of snooze buttons, carpool lines, grocery lists, and sports practice. One day rolls into the next and the next thing you know, Monday is here again and Friday seems a life time away.

I remember not too long ago I said to my mother, "I can't wait until Friday." And she responded, in all her motherly wisdom, "You're wishing your life away."

What! Wishing my life away? I'm already 41...the last thing I need is to wish my life away! I need to re-focus. I need to enjoy each and everyday...loving those little presents God blesses me with everyday.

It's amazing when you start to look for a reason to smile, how many reasons you find. How great is our God to bless everyone, anyone with little presents just to put a smile on our faces, a pinch of love in our hearts and a skip in our steps. And all we have to do is look up from our busy days to find them.

This past Sunday while sitting in church waiting for 11:00, I looked through our church bulletin and smiled. We would be singing Here I Am, Lord...my very favorite hymn. It makes me cry every time, but I don't care because this hymn speaks to my heart and reaffirms just how precious I am to God. And then my sweet husband reached over and gave me a tissue...and I smiled again.

Today, on my way to work, I looked up into a cloudy sky to see a rainbow, and I smiled. Little presents are everywhere...go find them.

It's Complicated...and Gorgeous

It's Complicated Kitchen

I absolutely love the Nancy Meyers' film It's Complicated. Sure it's funny, we're talking Meryl Streep, Steve Martin, and Alec Baldwin here, but it is also absolutely gorgeous! From the opening scene to the closing scene, my eyes are glued to all the beauty around.

If you aren't familiar with Nancy Meyers, she is the muscle behind such wonderful films like Father of the Bride I and II, The Holiday, and one of the best movies ever made...Something's Gotta Give. The woman has a talent for writing, directing, and decorating. Yes, decorating.

The set decor on each of these movies is beautiful. The collaboration of Ms. Meyers, her production design team, and her personal interior designer, James Radin, is off the charts amazing. I have found myself on more than one occasion...okay, every time I watch one of her movies...dreaming of transforming my home into the fabulousness I see on the screen.

If that isn't enough, Ms. Meyers own home is surely to inspire the decorator in us all. Instyle Home Magazine shares the love with us.

Love the Funny Face poster. Brilliant!

Oh, how I covet this talent and creativity.

Happy Birthday Oliver!

Today is Oliver's first birthday!

What a perfect day to jump back into this whole blogging business head first...I mean feet first.

Since I've last posted, I've asked myself the same question over and over again...

What's this all about?

What is gigi&oliver all about?

When I decided to start my blog, I titled it gigi&oliver for a reason. GiGi represents my past while Oliver represents my present. And that is exactly what this is all about...my past and my present.

I have been blessed with a life full of great memories and even more in the making. I want to share the world around me both then and now, and there is no better way to do that then write it down for others to (hopefully) enjoy.

So, off we go.....

HAPPY BIRTHDAY OLIVER!

You silly boy!
